Insurance & Out of Network Benefits
CareFirst/BCBS (effective December 20, 2019)
If your insurance is not listed, I may qualify as an out of network provider for you. It is recommended you call your insurance company to see if out of network benefits are provided for therapy, and how much your out of network deductible may be. Here are some questions to ask when talking to your insurance company:
What are my out of network mental health benefits?
Do I have deductible? If so, what is covered after the deductible is met?
Do I require a pre-authorization for my out of network benefits?
Do my out of network benefits include telehealth?
At the end of each session I will send a copy of your service and payment. If you prefer I can send a statement at the end of the month for that month's services. You will then submit the statement(s) to your insurance for reimbursement.
Why Choose Out of Network?
Therapy is an investment in YOU, one that can greatly impact your quality of life in the long-term. Most insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis and dictate other terms of your treatment. I am an out of network provider so that I may provide the best quality of treatment for YOU.
If you’ve never used out of network benefits there is help! There is an mobile app designed to make the process easier and assist you with submitting your out of network benefits. For more information click here https://reimbursify.com/
Health Care Savings Account (HSA)
Typically, clients are able to use their flex spending cards for full payment of therapy. If you do not currently have an HSA account, ask your employer if they offer one.
Sliding Scale/Payment Reduction
People sometimes inquire as to whether I will adjust my payment or offer a "sliding scale." By industry standards, my rates are competitive to allow for access to quality care at a fair rate. If you feel you still cannot afford the stated rates, you may apply to Open Path, a Psychotherapy Collective in which I participate. Once you apply they will determine the rate that is appropriate.
I accept all major credit cards and HSA/FSA cards as forms of payment. You will be sent a link to enter your credit card information upon setting up your first appointment. Your credit card will be charged by midnight following your appointment.
If you are unable to attend a session, I require you to notify me at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time. I allow a cancellation with less than 24 hours notice one-time, as I understand things happen like sickness, family needs, etc. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice after your "one-time" allowed cancellation, you will be charged for the full rate of the session.
Prior to scheduling your first online therapy session, you will have a consultation session (free of charge). At this appointment we will talk about your needs, and what brings you to therapy. In addition, we determine together if online therapy sessions are a good fit for you; to include the appropriateness of addressing your concerns in an online therapy setting, your access to a private location to conduct the session, access to technology, etc.
