Inward happiness

What exactly is "inward happiness" anyway? A quick google search and the online dictionary defines inward as something that is focused internally or moves toward the inside or center. And according to the "reliable" Wikipedia source... "in philosophy, happiness translates the Greek concept of eudaimonia, and refers to the good life, or flourishing, rather than simply an emotion. In psychology, happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by, among others, positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happiness

As I interpret the quote above...those that are happy with themselves often reap the rewards of that kindness. Or we can simply think of it the other way around. When we are happy inwardly we are able to give more willingly and spread kindness through our actions. Hence, contributing to other people's inward happiness. But, can we really influence another person's happiness, doesn't happiness have to come from within? Now if that is not a play on words! The old adage that no one can make you happy but you, really rings true in most cases. By doing things without expectations in return, happiness is often rewarded. A wise friend said something in a meeting yesterday..."the true measure of your success is what happens when no one is watching." This is a quote that stems from another she is had paraphrased...but all the same the message is there. It is what we do without expectation that truly matters. When someone says, "I feel that no one likes me, or people are not nice to me." I ask then, what reason did you give them to like you? Have you thought about ways to "like" yourself first? See, sometimes we expect things from others that we aren't willing to give ourselves. #bekindtoyourself
